Industrial Electrician / Millwright

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician / Millwright to join our maintenance team in a fast-paced greenhouse environment. The role involves installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production machinery, electrical systems, and facility equipment. You will work closely with operations to ensure equipment reliability, support continuous production, and adhere to safety and maintenance best practices.

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Inspects mechanical equipment for the purpose of ensuring that it is suitable for safe operation and/or identifying necessary repairs
  • Assists in the evaluation of equipment functions for the purpose of maintaining facilities and/or complying with mandated health requirements
  • Assists in maintaining irrigation and filtration equipment (e.g., filters, pump equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring equipment is in proper working condition
  • Maintains records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference trail and/or compliance with mandated requirements
  • Performs repairs to equipment and facilities for the purpose of maintaining facilities and equipment in safe operating condition
  • Assists with setup and/or movement of equipment (e.g., lines, new equipment, etc.)
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment
  • Performs simple machinist duties and responsibilities
  • Performs mechanical tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic, and troubleshooting and repair of machines
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests, and adjusts
  • Maintains heating system, boilers, pumps, valves, and piping
  • Repairs of the following equipment daily: selecting line, seeding line, spacing machine, and lawnmower
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary education program, craft apprenticeship
  • Industrial Electrical Licence (Certificate of Qualification) is a must
  • Experience or background in agricultural or greenhouse environments is preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high level of motivation and initiative
  • Demonstrated responsibility, flexibility, and leadership skills in a maintenance or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience diagnosing, setting up, and troubleshooting electrical systems, including PLC programming and control systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems relevant to industrial machinery and greenhouse equipment
  • Familiarity with local, provincial, and federal workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders accurately
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments
  • Ability to operate and maintain various greenhouse production equipment, including selecting lines, seeding lines, spacing machines, and lawnmowers is an asset
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment

Physical Location / Working Conditions

  • Work location is in a rural area with limited access to public transportation candidates should have reliable means of transportation
  • Ability to work shifts including weekends 
  • Ability to work long hours when required, especially during peak seasons 
  • Working in high temperatures
