Position Summary
The Sustainability and Compliance Reporting Lead is responsible for developing, managing, and executing the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting and compliance initiatives. This role ensures alignment with international frameworks, evolving regulatory requirements, and internal sustainability goals. Working cross-functionally, the lead will gather data, validate performance metrics, and produce transparent, high-quality reports for both internal and external stakeholders. This is a strategic and hands-on position that supports corporate transparency, risk mitigation, and sustainability performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Reporting & Disclosure
- Lead the preparation of annual sustainability/ESG reports in alignment with global standards (GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD, etc.).
- Monitor and interpret emerging regulations (e.g., CSRD, SEC climate disclosure rules) and advise leadership on compliance strategy.
- Develop internal reporting frameworks and dashboards to track progress against sustainability KPIs and targets (e.g., carbon footprint, energy use, water, waste, DEI metrics).
- Coordinate third-party verification and assurance processes for sustainability data, as required.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure timely submission of required filings (e.g., emissions reporting, energy audits, waste tracking, chemical reporting).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and auditors during environmental inspections, compliance reviews, and reporting cycles.
- Support development and implementation of internal policies and procedures related to environmental compliance, responsible sourcing, and ethical business practices.
- Identify and assess compliance risks related to sustainability and lead corrective actions or process improvements.
Data Management & Analysis
- Develop and manage systems and tools for accurate data collection, validation, and reporting across departments.
- Collaborate with IT, Operations, HR, and other teams to ensure timely and accurate data sharing.
- Analyze sustainability performance data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training
- Partner with departments such as Operations, HR, Procurement, and Finance to embed sustainability and compliance into day-to-day practices.
- Lead training and awareness initiatives to build internal capacity on sustainability topics and regulatory requirements.
- Represent the organization in industry sustainability groups, forums, and benchmarking initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Considerable experience in sustainability reporting, ESG compliance, or environmental management in a corporate setting will be preferred.
- Deep knowledge of sustainability frameworks and regulatory reporting standards (GRI, SASB, ISSB, CSRD, TCFD, etc.).
- Experience working with data management systems and software (e.g., MS Excel, Power BI, Salesforce Sustainability Cloud, or ESG platforms).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
