Quality Matters
Ontario Plants Propagation is constantly introducing new innovations across the production facilities – from new hygiene measures, higher quality standards, and advanced plant monitoring equipment.
Always Minimizing Risk
The Red Zone
All bins, trays and carts from the production growers are returned to the red zone, so the risk of spreading of any viruses is greatest here. After all, there are a lot of hands touching the carts before they return to the plant grower and there also will have been contact with the crop, that may be contaminated.
Heat Exchanger
The washing line for bins and trays is specially equipped with a heat exchanger to provide sufficient hot water so that up to a thousand pieces can be washed per hour. There will be a special dock for trucks at the red zone, only for the delivery of carts and trays that return from our customers, without actually having to enter our building.
Longest Washing Line
The installation now washes up to 120 carts per hour. Adding an extra section to the line increases the contact time, which is important to effectively kill viruses such as Covid-19 and ToBRFV.
Bio-Security & Hygiene
Environment
We at Ontario Plants are constantly introducing new innovations across the production facilities. The growing environment, water disinfection systems, internal transport, sowing, and sorting techniques are continuously being improved to achieve the best possible results.
Technology
Intensive use of equipment such as camera sorters, 6,000 lux lighting, ebb & flow concrete floors, extensive irrigation water filtration treatment and disinfection affords Ontario Plants Propagation with all the necessary tools to grow healthy and uniform plants.
Quality Control
Strict hygiene measures apply not only to greenhouses but also to personnel, carts, shipping trays, and vehicles. Quality control is an ongoing process at Ontario Plants. Processes and plant health are under constant scrutiny on both the greenhouse floor and at the in-house laboratory.
Ontario Plants Propagation facilities are located far from other greenhouse operators, ensuring that the growing environment is significantly less exposed to common growing pests and diseases.
